<trans-abstract xml:lang="en">
<title>Highlights</title><p>Highlights </p><p>Acquired long QT syndrome is a rare disease, but the frequency of QTc prolongation increases with polypragmasia.</p>
<title> </title><p> </p>
<title>Abstract</title><p>Abstract</p><p>Acquired long QT syndrome is a rare condition. However, the prevalence of prolonged QTc interval increases among patients with polypharmacy. The risk of both QTc interval prolongation and torsades de pointes (TdP) tachycardia escalates exponentially with the concomitant use of multiple QTc-prolonging drugs. This article explores the underlying mechanisms of the condition and methods to mitigate the risk of potentially fatal arrhythmias.</p>
</trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>Удлинение интервала QT</kwd><kwd>Лекарственно индуцированное удлинение интервала QT</kwd><kwd>Побочные эффекты лекарственных средств</kwd><kwd>Тахикардия типа «пируэт»</kwd><kwd>Внезапная сердечная смерть</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>QT interval prolongation</kwd><kwd>Drug-induced QT prolongation</kwd><kwd>Drug side effects</kwd><kwd>Torsades de pointes</kwd><kwd>Sudden cardiac death</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group xml:lang="en"><funding-statement>The authors declare no research funding.</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Castiglione A., Odening K.
